Continuous casting: the basics and the latest

Slabs, sheet metal, strips, tubes, profiles, bars and wire – metallic and other materials are manufactured in a wide variety of semi-finished forms which in most cases are further processed into a multiplicity of end products. With the new column "The basics and the latest" Expometals.net intends to support young professionals and other interested readers in obtaining basic knowledge on manufacturing and processing technologies and related matters.
An additional source of valuable information is the section Latest trends which considers newly published market surveys and other studies concerning directly or indirectly the mentioned technologies and their industries.

The information has been compiled by Dipl.-Ing. Konrad Dengler who obtained an engineering degree in materials sciences. He started his professional career at an energy plant engineering company, changed from there to a publishing house where he was busy as an editor of technical magazines directed at the wire & cable, sheet metal and bulk metal forming industries and has been self-employed for 25 years as a technical journalist and translator specialised in industrial topics.
The first article is related to a newly published category on Expometals.net: continuous casting machines
