The V7+ offers a powerful selfie camera with a 24MP resolution!
Vivo’s all-new smartphone, the V7+ was launched recently at an attractive price of 21990 INR in India. The Chinese brand is well known for its astonishing camera features, and the latest offering is no different. The phone features a 24MP front-facing camera which is its USP. Apart from this, it features a DAC alongside for the media lovers. But should you be buying it? Let’s see how well the smartphone performs and whether it should be amongst the best picks of 2017.
Design and Build
The Vivo V7+ features an ergonomic body with extremely thin bezels. The smartphone is light in weight, and despite the 6-inch display, it feels pretty comfortable to hold and use. The edges are curved and offer a good in-hand feel.
The rear panel has a camera, LED flash and a fingerprint sensor while the front panel has camera and sensors at the top, along with three buttons towards the bottom. The 3.5mm audio jack, micro-USB port and speakers are present at the base. The volume rocker and power button are on the right side, while the SIM card tray and SD card slot is on the left.
Overall, the design is impressive and classy. The bezel-less display makes it attractive and offers an immersive experience, while the metallic frame seems durable and sturdy.
Display
The V7+ is the first phone from the company to feature an 18:9 aspect ratio with its 5.99-inch IPS LCD display. The resolution is of 1,440 x 720 pixels, and the screen is layered by a 2.5D glass. The display is vibrant and attractive, even with its low resolution. One can clearly see the display from a distance and even from different viewing angles. The readability outdoors is great too and I didn’t find any difficulty to use it under direct sunlight.
Specifications
Powering the Vivo v7+ is Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 450 SoC clocked at 1.8 GHz paired with 4GB of RAM. The inbuilt storage capacity is 64GB, and it can be expanded up to 256GB via given memory card slot. Connectivity options are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and a micro-USB.
The V7+ runs Android 7.1 Nougat with its own FunTouch OS 3.2 on the top of it. The UI is very colourful and attractive. It offers good customisation options as well themes. There’s very less bloatware preloaded in this smartphone, which is good.
Performance
The Vivo V7 Plus offers good usage in most cases. The touch response was good with basic navigation too. But the multitasking lags at times, along with the heavy apps taking a lot of time to open once minimized. The gaming experience is also not up to the mark. Casual games run smoothly, but when it comes to the high-end games, the gameplay lags.
The fingerprint sensor is fast as well as accurate. The DAC offers good output, enhancing the multimedia experience. The 4G VoLTE calls also work well and I didn’t find any type of call drops during my usage. Other connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.
Camera
The front panel features a 24MP camera which takes images with great details. The colour reproduction is also impressive, and selfies have a natural skin tone. There are other given modes for enhancing selfies.
The 16MP rear camera also delivers impressive images. Even the low-light performance is better than the competition. Both the cameras on the Vivo V7+Â perform well and gets a thumbs up from our side.
Battery
The V7+ is backed by 3,225 mAh battery, which offers 9 to 10 hours of life with moderate usage. The battery capacity is a bit low as compared to the current trend of big battery smartphones, but still enough for a day’s worth of usage.
Gizmo Verdict
The Vivo V7+ offers great camera qualities though its performance is average. If you’re a selfie lover you can surely go for it but if you require good performance too, then you should opt for a better option such as the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro.
