The Staten Island Filmmaker's Showcase returns for it's third year this Winter. After an overwhelming turnout in its first run and an amazing growth into it's second, we are trying something new in our third year for an even larger reach.

This unique festival is about highlighting both upcoming and established talents in content creation. We invite creators to submit not only their latest masterpiece but their growing body of work as well. We are looking for filmmakers with unique perspectives and styles. This festival can help you and your collaborators reach new audiences and form new connections via viewership.

This year we are going LIVE with Sling Studio to bring our festival to a wide audience. After the stream, the content will be made private and all interviews and content between each segment will be uploaded separately for viewing.

Presented by Richmond City Media.

We are rolling out the carpet- in "Richmond-City Blue" for this event, live on Facebook and YouTube. Featured filmmakers will get a publicity package (featured on our website and blog) and interview during our showcase.

The grand prize winner is our "Spotlight Filmmaker" whose work will close the night. He/she (or they) will be invited to speak to our audience about their work. Your Award package will include a $100 gift-card and certificate.

Works set in any metropolitan area in the United States are welcomed. Creators based in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut are encouraged. Please mention with your submission any affiliation that your work has with Staten Island or New York City.

Submissions to Primary or Spotlight categories must be works completed in 2017 or later.

This year we're looking for works that celebrate your local community or showcase a community.

It was great to see a group of local artists taking this on and doing such an incredible job.

This was a really great event to be part of. The people running the event were very hospitable and it was well-organized. It's great to see more and more talent emerging from this region and the strong auteur-ship that was seen in this year's selection.

  • I was honored to have my film in this event. I love the Staten Island Indie scene. Staten Island has always had such a strong independent film community. In 1982 I was part of Bob Schreck's Staten Island indie "The Incredible Hulk vs The Ever Lovin' Blue Eyed Thing". It was one of the high lights of my early East Coast film career. Sorry I couldn't make it to the festival but I live on the other side of the country.
