Pleasant Plains’ most expensive home sale closed at $2.3M

A new record has been broken, this time in Washington, D.C.’s Pleasant Plains neighborhood. According to the Washington Business Journal, unit 7W at the Helicopter Factory in 770-774 Girard Street NW sold for $2.3 million, making it the most expensive home for the building as well as for the neighborhood, itself.

In a statement, TTR Sotheby’s International Realty said that the sale and appraisal are more than $800,000 above the highest condo sale in Columbia Heights.

As can be inferred by the name of the building, the Helicopter Factory really was once a helicopter factory in the District. Washington Business Journal reported that the factory made the world's earliest helicopters. Three original historic warehouses were combined into one building to make the luxury condo development. It spans approximately 28,000 square feet with 15 units.

Four condos are still available, ranging from $729,000 to $929,000. Another $1.7 million condo is expected to launch next week at the Helicopter Factory.
