Sixth Blog Post – Anchor Text Deep Dive
So in the video below, the sixth video in the series, we are discussing the importance of anchor text. It’s important because it is one of the main ways that Google can determine what your site is about and also, whether or not you are trying to game their system with over-optimized Anchor Text. Overall, I would consider it less important than where the links are actually coming from, but it can’t be overstated that you need to watch out for over-optimization if you’re sending exact match after exact match.
BUT WAIT! There’s a SIMPLE SOLUTION: don’t do anything spammy, and don’t send over-0ptimized anchor text to the same pages. Keep it natural and you won’t have any problems, and you won’t have nearly as much stress as you would have if you were consistently worried about your AT ratio. If you have enough safe Anchor Text, then you can also send a few links to your site with exact match AT and get a great boost from them. However, the quality of the websites that are sending the links are far more important than the specific Anchor Text that is attached to teh link, so put a majority of your efforts on getting links from GREAT websites, and you’ll have much better traffic and rankings.
