 Lights, Camera, LinkedIn

Get your brand ready for a close-up—video ads are officially coming to LinkedIn! As video becomes more and more dominant across social media, especially ads, this move is no surprise, but it is certainly a welcome addition. The feature is technically still in testing and currently only available to select advertisers, but the platform anticipates a mobile-only video ad debut with desktop viewing coming soon. In the meantime, be on the lookout for brands experimenting with the feature for some future video ad inspo.

 It Ain’t No Lie...

Social influencers are saying bye, bye, bye to Snapchat Stories, using them 33% less in the past six months. Not only are they leaving Snapchat, they’re switching platforms and heading to Instagram Stories. If influencer marketing is a part of your social strategy, be sure to take this into consideration when seeking a spokesperson for your brand that can reach your audience most effectively. With Instagram’s much larger potential for organic discovery, this switch may not come as a surprise but it is an important one for brands to stay in sync with.

 Mark It with a T

For its latest update, Twitter tuned into its followers’ requests—a #SaveForLater feature that lets users bookmark tweets they want to come back to later on. This move is awesome for marketers who want to keep track of content for curation or flag user content to go back to and interact with. The feature was developed as part of Hack Week (Twitter’s quarterly, company-wide brainstorm session), so there are no firm details on when the feature will roll out yet. So until Twitter permanently rolls out the feature, you’re unfortunately stuck with the screenshotting, link copying, or whatever else you’ve been doing for a little while longer.

Who let the dogs out?

Calling all dog lovers! Pedigree is taking over Facebook masks (and our hearts) to promote its “Feed the Good” campaign for National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. This adorable promo lets users flip through selfie filters of different dog breeds with a simple shake of the head. When users find a lens they like, Facebook shows them look-a-like furry friends that are in a shelter nearby, waiting to be adopted.

Not only is this campaign insanely creative, but it promotes a great cause too. While few brands can afford a Facebook mask, anyone can use social to link to a cause they care about. If you’re looking to get more creative than the typical social post, try using an Instagram Story or carousel to tell a story about a cause close to your brand's heart. Showcase photos related to your cause and add some descriptive text explaining why it’s important to your brand. Hosting an event? Simplifying Pedigree’s approach with a Snapchat geofilter can easily spread the word about what you care about. Turns out the dog days aren’t over after all.
