Looking at Your Website Strategy

Before starting with your website design and jumping right into the design and making the website loo beautiful. Investigating what your website strategy is, might be valuable in order to make sure that your website delivers exactly what you need it to once it goes live.

Here are a few things to think about for your website strategy:

The objective

An important consideration is what the main objective of your website is and how will you go about measuring this objective. Are you looking at creating awareness of your product or service? Do you want to drive more leads? It is important to consider what you want to achieve.

Learn from the past

If you currently have a website, but you feel that it is just not doing what you want. Then you need to carefully analyse and consider what is wrong with that website. Why is it not gaining as much traction as you thought? Or driving as many sales or leads?

An in-depth look at your website to see what it is doing wrong as well as what it is doing right, is a great way to improve your website strategy. Make sure to always have Google Analytics installed on your website so that you can study it and see where improvements can be made.

Look at the competition

Never forget to keep an eye on what your competitors are doing in the digital landscape. Make sure to keep your website competitive and up-to-date. Consider things like what their call to action is? What are their main differentiators?

When you carefully consider what they are using as selling points and seeing what they are doing in the space, then you will be able to analyse whether you need to step up your game in certain areas or what you need to change to stay competitive and ahead of the game

The customer

A crucial part of website strategy is looking at the customer. Even though we are sometimes tempted to design something that we love; we easily forget that while we may understand everything that is going on, the customer might not. Make sure to try and take an objective view of your wording, website design and customer journey. Ensure that everything is user-friendly and that you clearly communicate your offering in the best possible way.

Considering the sales cycle

Another critical consideration is looking at how your website is taking the potential customer through the sales process. Even the best website in the world would be useless if it was not moving the visitor further along in the sales process. In order to make sure that you take the potential customer on the needed journey, you need to consider how they are finding you. What exactly they are searching for when they come to your website. And consider what the best way is to lead them through the process.
