Comedy game show Takeshi's Castle is being rebooted, though it looks like we'll no longer have Craig Charles' dulcet tones to guide us through all the mayhem.

Comedy Central will be showing all-new episodes of the series this autumn, this time with Jonathan Ross providing the commentary.

Shot in Thailand, the show will see 100 members of the public try to tackle a number of ridiculous obstacles as they attempt to storm a castle.

"Takeshi's Castle is the gold standard of physical game shows and we can't wait to bring the delightful mayhem of this show back to the UK with this new series," said Louise Holmes, Vice President, General Manager, Comedy Central UK.

"Jonathan's comedic brilliance will add a fresh level of funny to this well-loved format for both original fans and hopefully, a whole new generation of 'Keshi-heads'."

Takeshi's Castle originally aired in Japan in the late 1980s, before transferring worldwide including the United Kingdom.

The show ran for six series here between 2002 and 2004 and was commentated on by Craig Charles, who coined the term "Keshi heads" to describe the show's biggest fans.

It was briefly revived in 2013 as Takeshi's Castle Rebooted, with Dick & Dom taking over commentating duties. However, the new version was poorly received by fans.

Let's hope Ross can bring back a bit of that magic. General Lee must not be disappointed.
