Renamo president Ossufo Momade is in Cabo Delgado for a two-day working visit.
On the first day, Momade hosted two rallies – one in Chiúre district and another in the provincial capital, Pemba.
After Chiúre, Renamo president Ossufo Momade visited the city of Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado province, and was welcomed by party members and supporters under strict security measures involving his own men and the Mozambique Police.
Momade led a chanting and dancing crowd along several main roads in the city and through to the busy Natite neighbourhood, where he addressed a rally in the Emakua language.
“On the sixth of this month we signed the definitive peace agreement in Maputo. The war is over, and now attention should be turned to next October’s elections, which we have an obligation to win in order to ensure the country’s development,” Momade said.
In his speech, the Renamo leader promised party members and supporters that he would end corruption.
“Renamo has made a great commitment to the people, which is to end the corruption which is compromising the country’s development. And for that to happen, we must prepare to win the next election,” the Renamo said president.
In addition to Chiúre and Pemba in Cabo Delgado, Momade is also scheduled to visit Montepuez district, where he will hold another rally before leaving for neighbouring Niassa province.
