Taika Waititi has debunked reports that he's completed the screenplay for Thor: Love and Thunder.

The Kiwi director was confirmed to be returning to the God of Thunder's stomping ground earlier this summer, after storming the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his humorous approach and wacky characterisations in the third Thor instalment, Ragnarok.

But before he can blast anymore orders down the megaphone, Waititi must write the movie first.

Responding to online claims originating from Deadline that he's already put the final touches to Love and Thunder's script, the Jojo Rabbit filmmaker wrote on Twitter: "Oh that's cool!! I never cease to surprise me! (the title page is complete)"

Jemaine Clement – who collaborated with Waititi on TV series Flight of the Conchords and vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows – soon replied to his friend's post, writing: "Congrats on finishing title page, man."

"Thanks man. I used felt pens and a cool font like you taught me," the filmmaker then joked.
