RFA #41134 - School-Based Health Center Program Fiscal Year 2024 – 2027 Grant Funding Opportunity

This funding opportunity is now closed.

Funding Opportunity Overview

The purpose of this Request for Applications (RFA) is to solicit applications from organizations supporting school-based health centers (SBHCs) committed to serving and providing care to children and youth in Colorado.

SBHCs are medical clinics that offer health care to children and youth either in a school or on school grounds. SBHCs are critical safety net providers, offering primary medical care, behavioral health care, social services, dental health services, and health education. Services can include; well-child exams, sick visits, immunizations, health screenings, mental health and other counseling, reproductive health services, and school-wide health promotion activities. Located at school, SBHCs are convenient; many centers offer same-day appointments or permit walk-ins, preventing parents and guardians from taking time off work to take their child to appointments, and students spend less time away from school.

This RFA opportunity invites eligible organizations to apply for funding to support planning to open new SBHCs and funding to support current operating SBHCs.

Funding is currently available for the School-Based Health Center Operating Support Strategy under the Operating SBHC Track and for the Initial and Accelerated Planning-to-Operate (PTO) Phases under the PTO SBHC Track.

Funding is not currently available for the Screening, Brief, Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) - SBHC Project and School-Based Oral Health (SBOH) Project Strategies. Applications for these strategies will still be accepted and held until additional funding becomes available. Application responses for the strategies will not be reviewed or scored until funding becomes available.
