About Project

Recently, Japanese illustrator Ponkichi has been using his artistic skills in a series of illustrations that fuse animals and vegetables together to create charming vegetable fairies as a way of encouraging children to eat their veggies. He soonly found 3D modelers to help him turn the 2D designs into 3D models, and cooperated with manufacturer to 3D print the prototypes. He plans to make these little statues into blind box toys and sell them on the market.

Solution

  • Step 1: As the toys are designed for children and teenagers, it’s modeled to be printed in one-piece for safety reasons, in case young children would swallow the parts.
  • Step 2: Examine the models and add support structures, 3D print them in one batch using SLA Generic Resin. As the models are 5-10 cm high, the layer thickness we set is 0.05mm.
  • Step 3: Regular post-processing like washing with IPA, supports removal, and polishing. Be careful not to break their ears, tails, etc.
  • Step 4: To fully present the colors of real animals and vegetables, color-tuning is an important part. The models are painted by very experienced painters.
