Here's a look at current and future conditions for drought and rainfall in Texas and beyond via The Meadow Center’s Dr. Robert Mace:
The odds of El Niño staying with us through the summer have decreased slightly to 66 percent with a 50 to 55 percent chance of conditions remaining through the fall and winter.

One Water in Action: Wimberley ISD Makes History as First One Water School in Texas

The small Texas towns of Wimberley and Woodcreek are making big waves in the One Water world after the Wimberley Independent School District announced their plans to build the first One Water school in Texas. When it opens in fall 2020, the primary school campus will utilize a variety of One Water strategies to reduce groundwater usage by 90 percent when compared to traditional construction standards. Full story from Texas Living Waters →

Governor Abbott Vetoes HB 1806

House Bill 1806 would allow the San Antonio Water System to sell water from the Edwards Aquifer to adjacent counties, many of which are outside the regulatory jurisdiction of the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA), without any input from other permit holders or the governing board of the EAA. Full story from the Office of the Texas Governor →

Governor Abbott Signs Disaster Relief And Preparedness Legislation Into Law

Governor Greg Abbott signed into law several monumental bills related to disaster relief and preparedness in Texas. A Tool for Rapid Assessment of Hydrological Connectivity Patterns in Texas Coastal Wetlands: Linkages between Tidal Creeks and Coastal Ponds

Coastal salt marshes are heterogeneous, spatially complex ecosystems. The degree of hydrological connectivity in these systems can be a significant driver in the flux of energy, organisms, and nutrients across the marsh landscape. A new paper from the Texas Water Journal describes a 13-month field study in the Guadalupe Estuary of the Texas Gulf Coast that linked hydrological connectivity patterns between a saltwater pond to water levels in an adjacent tidal creek and nearby San Antonio Bay. Full report from the Texas Water Journal →
