A CAMPAIGN backed by the Evening Times which should ensure the majority of Scots teenagers are trained in life-saving CPR has been nominated for a major award.
British Heart Foundation Scotland’s Nation of Lifesavers campaign has been shortlisted for best campaign at the 2019 Scottish Charity Awards, which will be held next month in Edinburgh.
Glasgow was the first UK council to agree to train all pupils in May last year after a pressure campaign by the Evening Times. All 32 local authorities have now agreed to roll out training to secondary pupils.

It is hoped that the training will improve out of cardiac arrest survival rates, which currently sit at around one in 12 in Scotland and should mean around 50,000 young people are equipped with the skill every year.
In Denmark, survival rates tripled after training was introduced as part of a package of measures.
