AB InBev’s online craft beer retailer Beer Hawk is acquiring BeerBods, a UK beer subscription service.

BeerBods was founded in 2012, and now has several thousand subscribers making it the UK’s leading beer subscription service.

BeerBods is now being acquired by Beer Hawk (a UK business which was itself acquired by AB InBev in 2016 through innovation arm ZX Ventures) with the aim of ‘building the UK’s leading retailer of craft beer’.

BeerBods is based in a converted pig farm in Worcestershire with the aim of ‘getting more people drinking better beer’. The subscription service sends out 12 beers every 12 weeks; and holds a live online tasting for a different beer every Thursday at 9pm.

I’m incredibly proud of everything we have achieved to date,” said Matt Lane, co-founder, BeerBods. “Having said that, we want to do more. It has become increasingly clear that in order for BeerBods to reach its full potential, we need a partner that can help take us to the next level.

“We’ve therefore taken the decision to join forces with Beer Hawk who have acquired our business in full. We’ll be working with them to help build the UK’s leading retailer of craft beer.”

Mark Roberts, Beer Hawk Co-founder, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Matt and his team into the Beer Hawk family. They are simply the best beer subscription service out there, and have exactly the same passion for beer and ethos as we do – the BeerBods mission of getting more people drinking better beer is such a great fit with our own”.
