Ken Nightingall, also know as the "pink shorts boom guy" from the set of Star Wars: A New Hope, died at the age of 92.According to the Association of Motion Picture Sound (AMPS), Nightingall passed away in his home in the United Kingdom on Tuesday, May 19. Nightingall had a successful career as a boom operator but was best known as "pink shorts boom guy" after a photo of him shirtless with a pair of bright pink shorts on the set of A New Hope was discovered on Reddit. Nightingall explained the photo last year to ABC News and said that it was a very hot day on the set in Tunisia. The photo became so popular that it is not uncommon to find people at Star Wars and comic conventions dressed as "pink shorts boom guy."

His other credits include Alfie, Funeral In Berlin, and The Boys From Brazil, and spanning James Bond pics For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, View To A Kill and The Living Daylights.

He is survived by his wife Rose, daughter Toni and son Terence.
