Savor small bites, appetizers, heavenly hors d’oeuvres, entrée samples, featured beverages, and decadent desserts at the “Taste of San Diego – East" (formerly Taste of La Mesa) set for 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 3. This delicious extravaganza is presented by the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce. Along with the new name, the event has moved to a larger and fully air conditioned venue, with ample parking this year. The “Taste of San Diego – East” will be held at the Town and Country San Diego Hotel, 500 Hotel Circle North, in the Golden Ballroom. The popularity and crowd of this event has outgrown the current location of the La Mesa Community Center where it was held for the past 10 years. This summer, behold the magnificent sound of the 104-year-old Spreckels Organ, the world's largest outdoor instrument, at the free and popular International Summer Organ Festival. Held at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, this is a San Diego tradition not to be missed. Watch classic cars, muscle cars, hot-rods, kit-cars and more cruise down Main Street in Ramona every Thursday night during Ramona American Graffiti Cruise Nights, running now through September. Drivers who want to participate can meet at Ron’s Tire & Brake at Etcheverry and Main streets. Their route then runs east on Main Street up to Sixth Street, where they typically turn, go down a block, then return to Main Street to make their way back toward Denny’s, where they loop around and repeat the route. For its 44th season, the REP invites audiences to sing along to the top hits made at Gold Star Recording Studios in the 1950s and 60s in the world premiere musical “33 1/3: House of Dreams” (Aug. 1-25) by Jonathan Rosenberg and Brad Ross. The curtain next rises on festive music from Mexico in playwright-in-residence Herbert Siguenza’s new comedy “Bad Hombres/Good Wives.” (Oct. 3 – Oct. 27). For a change of pace, the REP then delves into the powerful drama “Hold These Truths” (Nov. 14 – Dec. 8), the inspiring true story of American hero Gordon Hirabayashi, a young man who defied an unjust order. The drama is followed by the 2016 Tony-Award winner for Best Play “The Humans,” (Jan. 9 – Feb. 2, 2020), a fresh look at the hilarity and heart of the modern American family. Inspired by the epic legends of Indian history, “House of Joy “(March 5 – 29, 2020) by Madhuri Shekar is a swashbuckling action-adventure romance centering on strong women who battle each other as well as a world threatening to enter their sacred space; the season closes with the brilliance of of “Hershey Felder, with A Paris Love Story,” (May 7 – May 31, 2020), featuring the music of Impressionist composer, Claude Debussy. The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association, Inc. announces the return of its popular Engineer-For-An Hour program starting on June 1 and running several weekends between June and September.  Engineer For An Hour allows you to sit in the engineer’s seat of one of the museum's powerful diesel locomotives and take charge under the guidance a certified locomotive engineer. The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of railroads as they existed in the Pacific Southwest.
