Superb. Chilling. Illuminating. Terrifying.
This is a deeply, deeply heart wrenching, emotionally gutting, mesmerizing cautionary tale of choices & the far reaching consequences (most of which were never considered) of those choices. Not only for the decision maker but also for those in the ripples.
Because the author does a stellar job of using every action & reaction to peel another layer of the onion for the plot of this intense story I will not say anything about the plot itself except to say it revolves around the Enforcer & 4 different women that enter his control.
And, it is a beautifully complex story with subtle nuances that begs to be appreciated multiple times.
*** FYI: Please be aware & pay careful attention to the author's proviso regarding this book: Dark MEANS VERY DARK. The writing IMO is superb, it is NOT fair to downgrade the book for the subject matter if you are not prepared to travel the path. ***
What I WILL say about this book is how it made me FEEL.
Overall & first, in spite of the dark, intense & sometimes shocking content, the author's writing was smooth as silk, I never noticed any jarring 'jumps' from one scene to the next, everything flowed in a way the reader is effortlessly carried along (most of the time as though a riptide from which there is no escape) with the story & the characters. And for me as a reader, that is a HUGE positive because it does keep me in, & completely focused on, the book. So that was a spectacular positive for me.
Then, the characters & their development: WOW! You figure you'll learn A LOT about the Enforcer (& you do), but I was tantilized & enthralled by how deftly the female characters were fleshed out, one was done with intense deep & dark strokes, like dark hued oil paint applied with a palette knife, one like a lighter colored oil painting using structured brush strokes & two as though delicate pastel water colors that gave only hints of the characters depths until the conclusion of the book where the reader was able to completely understand them.
This book IS emotionally gutting, raw, visceral & at times brutal, I found myself becoming angry, hopeful, shocked, appalled, mesmerized, enthralled, touched; felt the rage, horror, grief, depression, hopelessness, confusion & epiphanies of the characters. AND I read this book straight through because I flat out HAD to KNOW how things ended for each of the 5 characters. I HAD to KNOW.
BUT, do not let all the dark & frightening adjectives & emotions be the only things that might dissuade you from reading this stellar book.
IMO Ms. Basset's 'Enforcer' is a flawless example of an excellent author being able to take a heavy & dark subject & through her deft writing skills MAKE the reader care about & invested in her characters, be swept up in the plot at the beginning through to the very end, be surprised at the direction each character is taken/goes, be sucked through the emotional spectrum & grab you by the throat & heartstrings & not let you go.
As a lifelong reader who LIVES for those books that are MEAT (which this one is), not appetizer or dessert, not a light side dish, I consumed this one with full force gusto & long for the next one in this wonderful series.

This story was very intense with moments of OMG, combined with did she really just go there!?
This is the first story I have read by Linzi and I will definitely be reading many more. She writes stories that come off as real, because at times, as a reader, I am thinking there is no way this is possible. The story seems so far fetched that it makes you wonder if it is real because this could not be possibly imagined, it must be based on something factual.
Linzi this story has left me breathless and shocked, but I want and NEED more!

Be avare ..this is NOT a romance book!
Not my cup of tea also. I usually dont mind dark romances, but this is really not a romance. It is a story in where the main caracter is really an abuser and the main woman caracters are several so you dont know which one is the "romance" caracter. This is the first book that a have read in which the "long planned vengance" suceeds and the main caracter has no regret because he has no soul (wtf??). Also, no HEA, at least for the woman who wronged him. For him, yeee he "moved one" to new woman...
I just dont see this as anything but a horor story.

Its raw, explosive, revealing of man who was done wrong by someone he loved years ago . By that he be came the man they Called Master E
My heart broke for him. I believe in the end he came out ahead .
I was captivated from the 1st page to the last.
If you love extra dark BDSM. This is must read.
Please remember this very very dark story.
I'm hoping we will get to have another book with Master E.

I absolutely loved this book as I am a lover of the dark reads. Heed the author's warnings... they are not sugar-coated, they are real. As much as I hated Master E in the beginning, I began to see that he is redeemable, which always gives me hope with a villain. This book is dark and daring and I loved every minute of it.

The only way I have been able to describe this story is by comparing it to the worlds scarest rollercoasster. You know its going to be a very dark and scary ride but you just can't help yourself because you know the excitement and thrill will be so worth it or will it.
Cy is the Enforcer or Master E of Club Rouge and part owner, he is the most revered Dom for his skills and The Enforcer Reform Dungeon which is where he personally trains and breaks in Subs and Slaves for the members of the club. After being humilated and dumped by his slave 5 years earlier he doesn't do relationships but gets his sadistic fulfillment from making others the perfect subs/ slaves. Underneath his black mask is a man who has no heart anymore but he lives for the day when he can deliver the humiliation and his revenge upon the woman who turned him into The Enforcer.
Keira is a bratty slave who needs to be brought into line and her master signs her over to Master E to make her into the perfect slave not knowing that Master E has been waiting 5 years for this chance.
No one really knows Master E's true identity except for his nephew Anton who helps him in the ERD breaking the women so their submission is a natural need they just have to fulfill. Along the way he meets Reece who will make the perfect Sub and Leigh who will make the perfect Slave but can he decide between the two or will he have to but the big question is just because he wants them can he open hisself up enough to have them or is his heart to black?
There are so many dark and humilating tricks that Master E uses to break these women that if you have any triggers you need to pass this book by because it will turn your blood cold at some of the things they are forced to do to bring them to heel. But if you can handle this story it is a wonderful and amazing read that will open your eyes to a different side of BDSM and how someone becomes the perfect Sub/Slave. I could not put this book down I read it straight through and at times I felt sorry for these women then at others I realized they craved to be the best they could be for the men they love and respect enough to give everything they are and can be up for them.

I would heed the warnings by the author. If you want that happy ever ending - this book won’t give it, although I think Cy did get closure. The book has dark elements but I do believe if you love Linzi’s Club Alpha Cove series you will love this one. Cy is a redeemable bastard who I wanted to save. The book is panty melting, emotional, and unexpected. I loved it and couldn’t put it down.

This story took on a much different approach than I was expecting. There were a lot of side characters and the stories/involvement with Master E. I was just expecting the story on Kiera.
This story definitely had dark undertones but not as pitch black as I was expecting. I didn't see the twist coming at the end. My heart hurt for Kiera.

Linzi Basset writes like no one. She’s got a pen that can make other author blush with envy. I’m always fascinated to see her incredible, sophisticated pen work its magic, even in the most darkest and twisted scene. It’s mostly why I read her. But this book is different. Something Linzi has warned more than one time. When she says it’s dark, it’s in your best interest to know your triggers before jumping in this, because what she promises, she definitely delivers.
This book offers the perfect dark escape because Linzi didn’t restrain herself in that book and I was impressed by the justice she did to both the story and the characters.
I didn’t connect with Cy, which had nothing to do with something Linzi could have done wrong. I dont choose how my empathetic side works but I knew something in Cy would make it impossible for me to connect with him. BUT.... it doesn’t change the quality of this book. The richness of the characters. The incredible risks Linzi took with this book. The twist and turn that made me go through an array of emotions (which is a feat considering I didn’t connect with the most important characters of the story). Its because despite my own personal taste on characters like Cy, Linzi delivered a very intense and emotional story. Which is why I’m giving her five stars because she kept me on the edge right till the end and I read that book one shot, because I couldn’t put it down. Not many author can make me feel when I don’t connect with the major characters of a book. But this is why I read Linzi; She can bring me in her universe, keep me enthralled until the end, and make me want to read it again. As a reader, we also need to accept that even if we dont connect/like a character, it doesn’t change the quality of the story, or if the author did her job. In this case, its why I give 5 stars. The job has been done, deep down I know that me not connecting to Cy doesn’t mean he’s not a character many will like. Because I know they will. Linzi did a fantastic job giving us access to his deepest thoughts. Giving us the background story to each character. It’s dark, it’s twisted so it’s definitely exactly what Linzi promises.

No one really knows who he is, other than the masked, Master E the skilled reformer of subs/slaves that have lost their path to giving into their Dominants/Masters. Once a slave/submissive is turned over to the master, they do get retrained and become the best sub/slave they can be. He is the Master and skilled in his chosen work. There are women featured in this book that all deserve Master E's
skills and do go through some very extreme training, but survive to be better in the end. The mystery involved in this scenario leaves us wondering how he can continue as he does, can he be changed, does he even want change? Master E is a sadist and we see it in every thing he does when training the women in his charge. Yes, we know what made him this way, but does he have a chance at redemption? The Enforcer's Reform Dungeon is sadistic domination to the extreme but Linzi knows how far to push it, for me anyway. I enjoyed this story and the twists and turns involved in the storyline, I can only say, if you don't have some serious triggers you will love this book as much as I did. Linzi told the story well, I won't even try to do that in this review but I do suggest you read it, if you're brave enough.

Holy Mother Trucker! This was a first read for me by Linzi Bassett and I simply cannot wait to devour the rest of ANYTHING she's written! The storyline was great, the characters were fabulous! The character building really took the entire story, which left you glued to your kindle, axiously flipping pages on the edge of your seat to see what happens next. Does Cy fall for Keira again? Does he let her go. Do they end up in an MFF relationship? WHAT???? and the little twist near the end? Wonderfully done. I can't wait to delve into the next one!
I'd love to give this 5 stars, but I really have to give it the entire night sky, dark and dangerous, and an infinte number of stars. Please, keep in mind that this is a DARK read. Please make sure you're okay with kidnapping, forced orgasms, forced anything and everything, pleasure, pain and lots and lots of punishment. If you don't think it's for you, please take that into account and not rate this freaking amazingly dark and painful story 1 star and berate it. The author, the characters, and anyone that's read and loved this story doesn't deserve the punishment.

Wow! What a mind blowing read that takes you on a dark and delicious ride! If you are a lover of dark and twisted stories, then this book is right up your alley. The story of Cy aka The Enforcer has so many things going on in it, your head will be spinning, and I loved every word! Something in the past made Cy the way he is today, a force to be reckoned with. He does what he wants, when he wants and no one can stop him. He is a complete and total alpha and even with the way he is depicted, you can’t help but love his character. Throughout this story you are introduced to many characters and just when you think you have things figured out, this author takes you on another path! My emotions were also all over the place as well, and when I read the last word, I didn’t want it to end! Keep in mind, this book isn’t for the feint of heart, but as a lover of dark stories, I highly recommend it!

It ‘s characters pulled me into their dark journey and held me hostage , riveted to every single word throughout the entire book. It’s truly some complex and mind gripping writing by Linzi Basset. It’s a book you don’t want to pass up if you love the dark side . Absolutely a stunning dark read.

OMG !!
OMG !! This book blew me away. It’s very dark and full of and turns that filled my mind with every emotion possible. I was totally captivated by this very intense story. It ‘s characters pulled me into their dark journey and held me hostage , riveted to every single word throughout the entire book. It’s truly some complex and mind gripping writing by Linzi Basset. It’s a book you don’t want to pass up if you love the dark side . Absolutely a stunning dark read.

Yes this book is dark.
It was all it promised to be (in the warning). I get the book is about The Enforcer and what happened to shape him into the man he become. I did enjoy the story (and the roller coaster of emotions) and I guess I still had hope for a different outcome of sort.
The story was brilliantly written. I could not put the book down.
All the characters involved found a place and closure, but I must say I am saddened for "her". I just hope we will read more about "her" and that she too will find a place. I kind-of feel her character deserve a ending where "she" also finds a place.
I guess I was kind-of still hoping for some sort of happy-ever-after. Personally I enjoy a book that builds you up, but leave you happy / satisfied with the outcome. Yet, I feel sad.
But a story for me is only as good as the ending. This is clearly "his" book and his story, but I still would have want some closure for "her". I know... I know... don't punish me... I feel for the girl...

Fantastically Dark and Twisted!
WOW, so deliciously dark and twisted and definitely not for the faint of heart. Right from the start you are thrown into a twisted world of BDSM. The author does not hold back from anything. There is nothing that is not off limits, which makes this story unbelievably amazing. With the authors words I felt Cy’s pain and hatred. His need to torture and degrade comes from demons deep within himself, which I would love to read more about. I loved every bit of his devious dark mind. I need more of him!
Fantastic writing and an amazing story with lots of unbelievable twists and turns. I loved every delicious second of it.
Highly recommend for dark story lovers.

A couple of provisos before you buy and read this book. Remember this is a work of fiction and pay heed to the author's warning about this book..it's very dark and could be offensive to you. That being said, Enforcer is gritty, disturbing and unrelenting, often times reminding me of watching an accident happen in front of you. You want to look away but your eyes are glued to it as the carnage unfolds and Enforcer is like that. You want to stop reading and put it down and yet it holds you in its thrall. Master E is a man who has bartered away his compassion and heart to the sadistic beast he's unleashed in his soul. He is not seeking redemption, he's seeking revenge. After five years he may just get it.

This is a wonderfully written book it is very dark, dare I say devilishly dark. I loved it. I will start out by admitting, I did finish the book. I thought the author did a great job writing a Dom, I was less impressed with the Sub and Slave. It might have been that she just doesn't write very deep so I couldn't buy into these women being either Sub's or Slaves, and I LOVE a good D/s and M/s read. Unfortunately, this was not one of those. We do get in the head of the male mc, Cy (aka Master E) and those moments were the best for me. The story could have gone in such interesting directions but it didn't. Main focus was not the story or the characters, it was the sex scenes & punishment scenes. Those were smokin hot! There was a story somewhere in that book, it would have been nice if the author could have flushed that out.

DARK, ROUGH, COMPELLING!
This is the first book by Linzi Basset that I have read. OMG! What an exciting, DARK, overwhelming, enthralling story. I was drawn in immediately by Master E and his training island. He made my heart beat quickly at the same time I experienced a frisson of incredible trepidation. The sex was rougher than I imagined and the training was intensely effective.
Knowing the background story of Master E and what caused him to alter his entire being really set the stage for my understanding and accepting of the strict and ruthless methods he used.
All I want to say is, “Be still my heart! And, I want more!”

Revenge has never been served so hot. First, take heed of the warnings; and second, strap in for the devious, dark, spiral into the depths of what it takes to be taken in hand by the Enforcer. It is heart stoppingly intense, taking you to a place where you aren’t sure you can ever or even want to recover. Similar to those who find themselves under his control, readers will be forever changed by the experience and will be left begging for more or screaming for relief. The author left me emotionally devastated at so many points, mesmerized by the twisted circumstances that molded the characters into who they are today. A five-star masterpiece that takes dark to a whole new level - I’m hooked.

Wow this was a very hard book to read
Ms Basset's books always explore the depths of the BDSM lifestyle but this one goes into a very different direction. It is debatable whether there is a happy ending to this one. A very unique storyline and not for the faint of heart but man this lady can write. Please take note of the author's s warning at the beginning of the book. It was worth reading but will probably haunt me for awhile. In think something lite will be my next read. Please never stop writing and pushing out limits. You are a gem Ms Basset.

I've never been a fan of the darker genre's...but this book gave me some closer on some personal views. Heed all the authors warnings, it is not for the faint of heart or close minded. Master E scared me often thru out. I was kept on a roller coaster, sometimes needing to get off for a little while, but got back on and continued the ride. Well written, kept moving and pulling me in deeper. Did enjoy very, very much.

This is a dark, mind blowing, intense and amazing read. If you love Dark novels like I do, then you are going to devour this. You will feel so many emotions, fear, anger and so many more. I love the characters and the plot of the story. Cy/ Master E will make you feel edgy, petrified, and he will draw you in. Linzi Basset has written an edgy and mesmerizing I can't stop reading novel. Her writing is out of this world. This is a must, must, must I want more dark read.

Master E is the Enforcer. He's known for training/retraining slaves and subs to be the best they can be. Master E will not have it any other way. He is extreme in his sadism thus his methods are very sadistic. I like how Enforcer shows us 4 different points of view from 4 very different women. Master E is complicated to say the least. Don't expect the normal HEA, its just not there. Heed the authors warning.

What an intense dark read. I love the depths of depravity of this story. The characterrs grab hold of you and you love to hate them. I can't wait to read the next book, this author has become a must have 1 click for me.

April 18, 2022DNF not my cup of tea. I don’t like Hero’s who are totally bitter and unfeeling and without redemption just because they were rejected. The enforcer was ultimately just a weak little man. I did read the ending and felt so sorry for Kiera. So if you like reading about a weak minded irredeemable Hero who has no remorse this books for you. Definitely not a romance even though the heroine Kiera does love the H who is a lost mindless unfeeling soul taking up too many words on too many pages.

One of the best well written books,I have had the pleasure of reading. The content thought provking, and incredibly sad, and yet you find yourself smiling at times. Will read again. Beware , just a warning .I could not put it down , I started reading at about 8pm and finished about 4 in the afternoon the following day 😀 you have been warned

Very dark indeed
Even knowing how Kiera had hurt Cy, it was difficult to read how hardened he became. As the Enforcer, Cy had no equals and the Masters who went to him for help knew this.
