Talk about surprises! When I unboxed the all-new Think Vape Thor Pro 200-watt box mod, I immediately assumed this was just another lightweight, cost-cutting mod designed to be more stylish than satisfying. Well, I hope I don’t need too much ketchup to eat all this crow, because the Thor Pro has been a fantastic surprise ever since it arrived.

Other than a few MINOR sticking points, it’s possible that the Thor Pro is going to end up on more than a few “year-end” lists. Let’s see what the official word is on the Think Vape Thor Pro…

The Think Vape Thor 200W TC Box Mod is built for ergonomics and high-performance functionalities, crafting a lightweight shell integrated with the advanced ST200 Chip with a suite of comprehensive outputs and TC settings. Powered by dual 18650 battery (sold separately), the Thor 200W Box Mod features an intelligent chipset with rapid firing speed along with temperature control settings ranging from TCR adjustments and Bypass Mode. The Think Vape Thor is constructed with lightweight ABS material, implementing a refined curvature structure that’s comfortable to hold in-hand with ergonomically placed adjustments buttons and 0.96 inch OLED display.

Impressions

Light, light, light… I didn’t have a chance to review the original Thor mod, but from what I’ve read, this thin, but sturdy ABS frame is a series trademark. It might seem flimsy at first, but the lightweight exterior is covered in a nice, rubbery coating and a solid feel once a pair of 18650 batteries are installed.

But it’s what makes this a “Pro” model that really intrigues me. Not only is there an additional 20 watts of power/overhead (not that I ever really vape that high, but I’m all for potential), but there’s a larger, gorgeous full-color TFT display that manages to balance style and substance. While I usually don’t spend much time discussing screens, this one fit the Thor Pro’s aesthetic perfectly, managing to look good while staying out of the way.

The exterior designs are going to likely be a “love it or hate it” proposition. My red, white and black test model had a gritty, punk like vibe, with just enough graffiti qualities to keep things interesting. Is it for everyone? No. But I managed to find several tanks and RDAs that accented the pattern really well.

The coating is another “love it or hate it” feature, but you can put me in the “love” category. There’s nothing too unique about these rubberized coatings, but the Thor Pro exterior just feels more intact and permanent than a lot of the other devices with a similar feel. Comfortable, without ever getting slippery or causing you to lose grip, this is a great coating that most vapers will appreciate.

My only real concern about the look and feel? The press-fit 510 connection. I didn’t experience any misfires or problems when using it, but noticed that my larger tanks caused some movement when unscrewing them. I understand that a lightweight frame makes it difficult to have ANY heavy-handed components, but I worry that the Thor Pro’s 510 connection will loosen with extended use – something to watch if you don’t buy many new mods.

Standout Features

I’m going to keep this section short and sweet. And let me add a third “s” to the mix – “surprising.” Because the best feature on the Thor Pro is one I rarely use in everyday vaping, temperature control. Not that wattage and bypass modes don’t work well – there wasn’t a problem with any of them. But I have rarely experienced such a reliable, steady, high-performing temperature control suite on a mod this competitively priced.

Now, to temper expectations, we’re not talking about DNA or YiHi levels of precision and control. But for basic TC functionality, the Thor Pro outperforms most every mid-level vape mod I’ve seen. No stutters, jumpiness, erratic ohm readings, coil type detection problems or any other typical TC problem was evident here.

The Thor Pro’s other standout feature are the buttons, which are outstanding through and through. Tons of clickiness, shallow throw and immediate responsiveness, the buttons only accented what I already knew about the mod – it’s a keeper.

Vaping the Think Vape Thor Pro

Starting in wattage mode, I used a variety of sub-ohm tanks and RTAs, with a range of wire types to make sure the stellar TC was legitimate, and not just a one-hit wonder. Yup – it delivered … even with the nickel coils that always seem to give us headaches around here. Smooth ramping, stutter-free power, all the way up the ladder. TC enthusiasts take note – this may never replace those DNA stalwarts in your collection, but for fuss-free temp control on the go, you can’t do much better than the Thor Pro.

In wattage mode, we enjoyed the same level of smooth precision, all the way up to its 220-watt limit. I found the device was a LITTLE finicky within those last 20 watts, but that might be the result of my coil builds as much as anything else. The rest of the time, the Thor Pro was a consummate professional, delivering no-nonsense performance at any power level.

The onboard menu system was equally impressive. Not only was the display easy to read, even in daylight, but the linear menus made it easy to navigate and change settings without any problems. It’s not the most-innovative control system out there, but as far as three-click setups go, the Thor Pro is as good as any available.

One quirk that bugged me? The slightly loose rear battery door, which came off in my pocket more than once. It never moved while using the device, but the weak-ish magnets and rubber coating make it a concern if you plan on carrying it in your jeans all day.

Pros

– Tremendous TC performance

– Great construction quality

– Excellent full-color display

Cons

– Loose rear battery door

– Weak 510 connection when using larger tanks

– Color scheme isn’t going to appeal to everyone

Spinfuel VAPE Recommendation and ScoreSPINFUEL VAPE REVIEW SCORE

Sometimes, you don’t need 1,500 words to tell a story. Sure, I could have dissected every function and feature on the Think Vape Thor Pro mod, but so can an instruction manual. My job is to let you know in plain language if a device is worth buying and owning. And my answer here is unequivocally “yes.”

At this price, it’s hard to fathom how much value Think Vape is delivering with this chipset, but we’re happy they found a way to bring a higher-end experience to this category of mods. The few quirks we highlighted barely mattered once we put the Thor Pro through its paces. An absolute surprise, and a joy to use, the Thor Pro gets our highest recommendation.
