HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Army National Guard members stationed in Kosovo helped spread some aloha earlier this month.

They teamed up with local police for the “Toys of Aloha” event in which they handed out hundreds of gifts to special needs students.

They collected more than 500 toys to deliver to children.

“We call it the aloha spirit everybody coming together, especially the kids, to show good will throughout the community. and y’know that day when the kids kind of walk through with a smile, it just made my whole day,” Lt. Col. Michael Caraang said.

It's the first time members of the National Guard and Kosovo police teamed up for this event.

They plan to keep distributing the gifts at events just like it in the future.
