Washington D.C. recently got its first snow storm of the year.
We had a little bit of snow in November, but nothing that stuck around. This time, we got about a foot of snow in the District over the weekend, which was apparently a 30-year record.
Although this type of snow storm was nothing special back in Minnesota, D.C. is not equipped to handle snow at all.
The snow tapered off on Sunday, but the sidewalks were mostly still in terrible shape on Monday morning. I assume Washington doesn’t fine property-owners for dangerous sidewalks here. Despite the icy sidewalks and roads, I got up, walked the dogs, and arrived in the office with a to-go breakfast around 8 a.m.
And it was really dead..
I assumed everyone was just late because of the snow, but when I checked my email I saw a message that the office was actually closed for the day. (Which they sent at 7 a.m.)
So I just gathered my stuff and worked from home for the rest of the day. Not a bad way to start the week.
It’s otherwise been a quiet week so far. I think everyone’s hunkering down to get things done after the long break. The productivity and amount of work feels nice, even though the walks to and from the office are still slippery. ❄️
