Elizabeth Hay, member of the Class of 2018.

Elizabeth Hay has tasted many parts of the pharmacy dish. She worked for years as a pharmacy technician or intern, earned her Pharm.D. and MBA, completed a residency, and now she puts it all together as a unit-based pharmacist at Prisma Health–Upstate in Greenville, South Carolina.

“Elizabeth had an ideal approach to figuring out the right pharmacy path,” said Philip Hall, dean of the MUSC College of Pharmacy. “She took advantage of the opportunities we have available and created a truly compelling portfolio, which really made her stand out in the marketplace. She’s a great role model for our students, since the college views job placement as an important component of the MUSC pharmacy experience.”

Since the college started tracking employment, job placement six months after graduation has routinely been 100% for all trackable students.

Before joining Prisma in July 2019, Hay completed a post-graduate year one (PGY1) community-based residency at Valley Health System. In 2018, the Clemson University graduate earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina and an MBA from The Citadel, through the Pharm.D./MBA concurrent degree program.

In addition to more than 10 years of experience as a pharmacy technician and intern, her background includes bioengineering and business along with a variety of pharmacy experience in fields such as retail/independent, transitions of care, medication therapy management, and collaborative drug therapy management (CDTM).
