ETSU's Good named player of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – ETSU redshirt sophomore guard Patrick Good has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests Jan. 22-28. The award is selected by the league office.

Good scored a career-high 35 points in the Bucs’ 91-69 win at Western Carolina on Saturday. The Johnson City, Tennessee, native hit a school-record 11 3-pointers in the win, making 10 of his first 12 on the day and finishing 11-for-17 (.647) to break the school record of 10 3s held by Courtney Pigram since 2009. Good shot 66.7 percent from the floor overall, making 12 of his 18 attempts. He became the 16th player in school history to score at least 35 points in a game.

Good’s 11 3-pointers are tied for third-most in by a Division I player this season, trailing only the NCAA record-matching 15 hit by Furman’s Jordan Lyons and Robert Morris’ Josh Williams in November. Good’s 11 triples are also good for a tie for third in a game in SoCon history.

The win ran ETSU’s record to 17-5 on the season, including a 7-2 mark in league play. The third-place Bucs head to Samford (13-9, 3-6 SoCon) on Thursday before wrapping up their three-game road swing at Chattanooga (10-12, 5-4) on Saturday. Both contests can be viewed live on ESPN3.

Other nominees: Lew Stallworth (The Citadel), Jaylen Stowe (Mercer), Isaiah Miller (UNCG), Brandon Austin (Samford), Garrett Gilkeson (VMI), Kameron Gibson (Western Carolina) and Fletcher Magee (Wofford).
