Sewing dresses for myself can be a bit intimidating, but after sewing a tween Modkid Brooklyn and a girls Modkid Brooklyn, it was time to try a misses' Modkid Brooklyn. Guess what?!? I may have found a favorite women's dress sewing pattern!
The lightweight french terry I used is from Joann Fabrics. Perfect for a dressed up cozy dress! Stretch velvet and ponte would be great options for this look as well. Keep in mind, directional prints or something with a nap will require extra yardage.
The mock turtleneck and long sleeves are perfect for winter wear. The regular neckband option with short or elbow sleeves will work perfectly for spring and summer.
I'm not sure I could pull off the sheath version, but I'm loving the fit and flare of the a-line cut skirt. I sewed up a size medium. For my height, I cut the bodice and skirt at the size large length.
If you are nervous about tackling dresses for yourself, a knit dress pattern is a great place to start, since knit is pretty forgiving when it comes to fit. After receiving my husband's stamp of approval, the Modkid Brooklyn Misses has jumped to the top of my knit dress sewing patterns list for sure.
