Situation
For the year ending March 2019, the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) showed that an estimated 2.4 million adults aged 16 to 74 years experienced domestic abuse in the last year. This equates to a prevalence rate of approximately 6 in 100 adults. Domestic abuse is often a hidden crime that is not reported to the police. Therefore, data held by the police can only provide a partial picture of the actual level of domestic abuse experienced.
Solution
In 2015, we launched Hollie Guard; a free app which turns your smartphone into an advanced personal safety device. In 2020 we introduced a new service available through Hollie Guard - Hollie Guard Extra (HGE). With HGE just a shake of the phone or tap of the button sends an alert to a professional 24/7 monitoring service. We will provide 1st tier organisations with vouchers to give to the victims of domestic abuse they support to use HGE free of charge for a period of 12 months.
