An Ottumwa musician has just submitted his audition for 'The Voice'.

Isaac Fogle got his first guitar at 14 years old. Fogle, now 20, continues to hone his vocal skills.

"I have to find the right key, and the right tempo for it,” Fogle said. “So practice makes perfect, definitely."

He's performed in front of his church congregation, and classmates. Now, Fogle says he's ready for a shot in the big leagues.

Fogle just submitted his audition last week to be featured on the American singing competition.

"It just felt right to me," Fogle said.

He added that there’s much more to the experience than overcoming nerves. Fogle, who is on the autism spectrum, finds it difficult to talk to people because of his stammer.

But when he sings...

"...it just comes out normally, and I think Isaac really sees it as a gift," said Fogle’s sister, Joya Fogle.

So whether Fogle gets a call back or not...

"...it could just be the beginning because someone could see his video on YouTube, and think Isaac is amazing," Joya Fogle said.

She said it's a performance that awes and inspires.

"With Isaac getting stuck on words, it's amazing to me what he can perform without stuttering,” said Fogle’s father, David Fogle. “I guess it's the rhythm, or whatever it is, but it's still amazing."

So what is Fogle's message to the world?

Just go for it.

"Isaac wants everyone to know even if you're nervous, or you have a disability, you might get something great out of it,” said Joya Fogle. “If you don't get something great out of it, you still went for it, which is a step in itself to go out of your comfort zone and do something.”
