FOLLOW UP: GERMAN CUSTOMERS SEEK COMPENSATION FROM VW

Due to a change in class-action legislation, a group of German customers is taking Volkswagen to court seeking compensation as a result of #Dieselgate. The owners claim their cars have depreciated quicker, pollute more and are less efficient. To read more click the Autocar article here.

SMMT NEW CAR REGISTRATION FIGURES OCTOBER 2018

The October New Car Registration figures have been released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Overall there is a small fall on the year to year comparison, of 2.9%. Hybrid and plug-in registrations are up, as expected on the back of the Government’s announcement they are changing the criteria in the next few days. To read more click the SMMT article here.

VW’S UK BOSS LEAVING

Paul Willis has confirmed, to Car Dealer Magazine, that he will be leaving Volkswagen. He hopes this is by the end of the year, after helping “on-board” his successor. To read more click the Car Dealer Magazine article.

PAY BEFORE FILLING POLICE RECOMMEND

There has been a rise in people driving from forecourts without paying for their fuel. Leicestershire’s Chief Constable, Simon Cole, has recommended that pay-at-the-pump systems should be implemented at all petrol stations. To read more click the Motoring Research article here.

CHILD CAR SEATS LAWS STILL CONFUSING PARENTS

According to Co-Op Insurance research 81% of parents think information regarding the correct use of child car seats should be available. 42% felt ill-informed as to the correct size, type and position for their child. 4 OUT OF 5 DISTRACTED ON SCHOOL RUN

More Than car insurance has surveyed parents who use their car for the school run and discovered that four out of five respondents found it difficult to concentrate whilst driving. To read more click the Motoring research article here.

FEARS MOTORSPORT MAY BECOME TECHNICALLY IMPOSSIBLE

There are fears that a poorly worded EU regulation for insurance could make it illegal to stage motorsport events. The problem is that the regulation will require vehicles used under normal circumstances must be insured, even if on private land. The hope is that this wording will be changed prior to the implementation of the new regulations. To read more click the EVO link here.
