pSTAKE Alpha User Guide

Follow our step-by-step guide below to get started with the pSTAKE Alpha and learn how to perform the functions of the app. Please feel free to join our Discord to talk to our team or other DeFi enthusiasts about pSTAKE.

To begin, we suggest that everyone completes the necessary prerequisites of using the pSTAKE app before diving deeper into the guide.

Test tokens for the Ethereum Ropsten testnet can be acquired here:

Please note that pSTAKE is currently on running testnet, meaning all funds used while testing pSTAKE will be testnet tokens.

Acquire/“Receive” ATOM Testnet Tokens in Keplr

To acquire some ATOM test tokens you will need to start by accessing the Persistence Discord channel here.

  1. Select the “bug-bounty-atom-faucet” channel on the left-hand side of the screen
  2. Type in $request (your Cosmos address)

Example: $request cosmos1ydel2qpnlc5dr4gtlssq9cnlsghnhj9te7uujw

The faucet will now send you 10 ATOM testnet tokens to your Keplr wallet. You should receive these testnet tokens very quickly.

Setting up Kelpr to Send Funds to pSTAKE Alpha & Wrapping ATOM Testnet Tokens

This portion of the guide should be used if you have not already added the “pSTAKE Alpha Testnet’’ chain to your Keplr wallet. Here we will also discuss how to “Wrap” your testnet tokens.

To get started, access the pSTAKE Alpha application here.

  • Firstly, select the MetaMask option

To add the “pSTAKE Alpha Testnet’’ chain to your Keplr wallet you must first successfully commit one transaction. To do this:

  • Click “Wrap” in the top left-hand corner
  • Type in the amount of tokens you wish to send to pSTAKE (you can only send what you received from the faucet — up to 10 ATOM)

This will populate the Kelpr wallet and allow you to add the appropriate chain to Keplr.

  • Click “Keplr”
  • Click “Approve”

Now you should be able to see the “pSTAKE Alpha Testnet’’ option available in Keplr. This can be seen by clicking the drop down box at the top of your Keplr wallet.

You can now access the pSTAKE Alpha testnet within Keplr effortlessly if you decide to come back at a later date. You have also now successfully “wrapped” your ATOM testnet tokens. The wrapped ATOM amount will display in your pATOM balance in the right pane.

Staking pATOMs and Claiming Rewards

Now that you have successfully wrapped your ATOM testnet tokens via pSTAKE you can utilize them on the Ethereum Ropsten testnet. Staking your tokens is easy, to get started:

  • Click “Stake” in the top left-hand corner
  1. Type in the amount of tokens you wish to stake to pSTAKE (you can only stake up to the amount you have wrapped)
  2. Click the red “Stake” button

MetaMask will now populate allowing you to select “Confirm” to initiate the staking process.

(Note: The transactions on Ethereum Ropsten testnet will require you to pay gas fees. You will need to procure test ETH tokens for this purpose from the faucet links shared above.)

You should receive a confirmation that the transaction has been completed by MetaMask. Furthermore, you will see the stkATOMs balance update in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

Because this is the Alpha version of pSTAKE, your rewards will accrue much quicker than they normally would on the mainnet (check out Alpha testnet documentation for details). You will be able to visualize this by taking a look at the “Unclaimed Rewards” section underneath your stkATOM balance.

stkATOM holders will accrue continuous rewards in the form of pATOMs. To claim your rewards:

  1. Click the “Claim Now!” button
  2. Then click “Confirm” on MetaMask once it populates

You will receive your rewards in the form of pATOM — the unstaked version of your testnet ATOMs. This can be visualized by taking a look at the updated pATOM balance in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

Unstaking stkATOM

In case you wish to exit your staked position, you can unstake your stkATOMs through the following steps:

  • Click the “Stake” button in the left pane, and select the “Unstake” tab

You will initially receive a message explaining that the unstaking process on the Alpha is much shorter than the normal ~21 day period. pSTAKE’s Alpha will unstake your assets within 21–24 hours. To move forward:

  • Click the “OK” button

You can unstake a portion or all of your stkATOMs by entering the desired amount into the text box. To unstake your test tokens:

  • Click the “Unstake” button

Next, MetaMask will populate, asking you to “Confirm” the transaction on the Ropsten Test Network.

Once this transaction is complete you will receive a confirmation from MetaMask. To verify that the stkATOM tokens are now unstaking, you can view the section of the pSTAKE interface that says “Total Unbonding Tokens” in the right pane.

Again, these funds will not be able to be claimed until the 21–24 hour unbonding period has lapsed.

Unwrapping/Withdrawing pATOMs to Keplr

Once you have redeemed your unstaking stkATOMs (from the “Total Unbonded Tokens” section in the right pane) you should see your pATOM balance updated in the top right-hand corner of your screen. To withdraw your tokens back to Keplr you will need to:

  1. Click “Wrap” in the top left-hand corner
  2. Then click the “Withdraw” tab

Here you will access the withdrawal interface. To continue withdrawing your test tokens you will need to:

  1. Type in the amount you wish to withdraw
  2. Enter your Keplr wallet address into the section that says “COSMOS Network withdrawal address
  3. Then click the red “Unwrap” button

MetaMask will now populate. To move forward:

  • Click the “Confirm” button on each prompt

Once the transaction is complete, MetaMask will alert you that the transaction went through. You should now be able to see your ATOM test tokens back in the “pSTAKE Alpha Testnet” side of your Keplr wallet.

Hopefully you are now equipped with all the knowledge you need to begin using the pSTAKE Alpha. If you need further clarification, check out our documentation and feel free to ask any questions in our Discord server.

About pSTAKE

pSTAKE is a liquid staking solution that unlocks the potential of staked PoS assets (e.g. ATOM). PoS token holders can deposit their tokens on the pSTAKE application to mint 1:1 pegged ERC-20 wrapped unstaked tokens represented as pTOKENs (e.g. pATOMs) that can then be transferred to other wallets or smart contracts on the Ethereum network to generate additional yield.

The pSTAKE Alpha launch shall be followed by a staking competition and then a mainnet launch for Cosmos (ATOM), Persistence (XPRT), and many more prominent PoS networks, the details of which shall be announced later.

We have a bag full of new features and an exciting roadmap for the coming months, so follow pSTAKE on Twitter and hop onto our Discord channel to stay up-to-date with the latest developments.

About Persistence

Persistence is an interoperable protocol enabling the creation of innovative solutions to expand the DeFi and NFT sectors, in addition to bridging traditional finance and DeFi.
