A lot will be riding on this film, with the fate of the DC Extended Universe is still up in the air as Shazam! and Wonder Woman 2 loom, but so far, the reception to early looks at footage of Aquaman has been relatively positive. Wan promised a swashbuckling and lighthearted adventure, and that seems to be the consensus thus far.

The movie follows Momoa's Aquaman, aka the sea king of Atlantis, as he battles his brother Orm (Patrick Wilson) for his throne while dealing with the likes of Black Manta, the Trench and warring Atlantean factions under the ocean who want to destroy the surface world.
