Now that Season 3 of Daredevil has come and gone, it looks like it might be time to lock and load and get ready for the next season of Netflix's other popular Marvel television series, The Punisher. While we have known for a while now that Season 2 of the Jon Bernthal-led series had wrapped production, we know surprisingly very little about the upcoming season. Outside of a few set videos, casting announcements and pictures, the story of The Punisher's next killing spree is shrouded in secrecy. But that may change very soon.Yesterday, the official Twitter accounf of Netflix's The Punisher tweeted a GIF from Season 1 featuring Bernthal's Castle knocking down Paul Schulze's villainous William Rawlins with a caption that read "You've done it now." While this could have been a simple tweet easy to discard, a whole lot more attention was brought to it when star Jon Bernthal himself retweeted it with a brief message: "Tick. Tock."RELATED: Punisher Season 2 Set Video Finds Frank in a Shootout With Jigsaw

With this tweet, it sure looks like the actor is hyping up the upcoming season of The Punisher. After all, the timing seems just right: now that Netflix has released Season 3 of Daredevil this past October, the coast is now clear for Frank Castle to return to the small screen. While Netflix has yet to announce the released date of The Punisher's second season, it could be just around the corner.

In fact, the first season of the series was released on Nov. 17 2017, meaning that it has now been a year since it hit Netflix. It's therefore strongly possible that Season 2 will come before the end of the year, or early in 2019. If anything, Bernthal's tweet makes it clear that the marketing campaign for the series has just begun. Perhaps this means that a trailer is coming very soon -- and with it, an official release date.

Netflix surprised a lot of fans last month when the streaming giant cancelled both Luke Cage and Iron Fist. At least, with The Punisher's second season and Jessica Jones' upcoming Season 3, the Netflix side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still kicking.
