School information sessions

Find out more about your student’s next local school by visiting their website. Some will hold information sessions in May 2024. Information sessions, whether online or in person, are a great way to:

  • meet school staff
  • check out the facilities and building
  • meet current students and hear about their experiences
  • ask questions about the school, its courses and programs
  • discover the unique programs, clubs and activities available at the school and
  • get a taste of what it means to be a part of the school’s community.

Check when your local school is holding their information session below. These will be updated by the end of week 1, term 2 2024 or as sessions are confirmed.

A series of information sessions will be held for parents and carers of students with disability about enrolment options and to support their school transition. There are sessions for preschool to primary, primary to high school and high school to college. Registrations details are below.

A list of information events for families and students enrolling at a new school in 2025 will be listed soon. You can also check your local school’s website or contact the school directly.

The ACT Education Directorate recognises the importance of well-planned and supported transitions for all children and young people with developmental delay, diverse learning needs and disability. The partnership between parents/carers and schools is key to the positive outcomes for all students.

Parents and carers are invited to attend information sessions to learn about enrolment options and planning for their child’s transition. The enrolment session, usually held in term 1, provides an opportunity for parents and carers to understand the enrolment process for local and specialist schools from preschool through to college in an ACT public school.

In term three an information session is held for parents and carers to plan for and support their child’s transition for their next year of schooling. This will be advertised via school newsletters and ACT Public Schools’ social media channels. Contact EDUCommunityPartner@act.gov.au with any questions you may have.
