Murdoch Mysteries Season 11 Recap

2008 saw “Murdoch Mysteries” grace CBC’s airwaves. During its run, quirky characters including the titular Det. William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson), and his wife/city coroner Doctor Julia Ogden (Helene Joy), evolved greatly. “Murdoch Mysteries” season 11 followed a harrowing finale in season 10’s “Hell to Pay.” Its cliffhanger left Constable Jackson (Kristian Bruun) dead, as revealed in season 11 opener “Up From Ashes.” Det. Murdoch and Station House No. 4 rooted out a sinister conspiracy involving Chief Constable Davis (Richard Clarkin).

Its dark, dramatic overtones permeated the entire season, culminating in a gut-wrenching two-part season finale of “Shadows are Falling,” and “Free Falling.” Inspector Thomas Brackenreid (Thomas Craig) proves the stable, reasonable friend and confidante for both William and Julia. Dr. Ogden’s pregnancy played a major role throughout season 11, and her miscarriage in the penultimate episode fostered issues for the Murdoch.

Meanwhile, Constable George Crabtree’s (Jonny Harris) relationship with Nina Bloom (Erin Agostino takes a turn. Crabtree proposes, and Bloom rejects him. Could George reunite with former romantic partner Louise Cherry (Bea Santos), who appears to truly repent for her smear campaign against Det. Murdoch? It seems Constable Henry Higgins (Lachlan Murdoch) will settle down with partner (Ruth Newsome).

Julia finds a new coroner assistant in Violet Hart (Shanice Banton). However, it’s revealed, that Miss Hart is involved in a conspiracy with Horace McWorthy (Sean Bell) which promises to play a major subplot throughout “Murdoch Mysteries” season 12.
