Sharing a story about intimate grooming on The Graham Norton Show is always going to be hella-awkward. But what about when your granddad and nan are in the room?!

That's the extremely cringey experience that Glass star James McAvoy had on Graham's couch this week, when he was chatting about having to shave his head while playing shape-shifting killer Kevin Wendell Crumb and also for X-Men.

That avenue somehow led onto a discussion of when James first started shaving… and where James first started shaving. Let's just say it wasn't his face that ended up clean-shaven when he first borrowed his granddad's razor:

The topper on James revealing that he'd accidentally cut his balls while shaving with his grandpa's razor was that his grandpa and nan were in the Graham Norton Show studio audience and had to relive that moment with him!

Awk-waaaard! Well, at least James made it clear that his nan later stressed to him the importance of always having good hygiene.

"Good point, granny," Graham interjected.

As if that whole situation wasn't awkward enough, James also chatted about the 47 multiple personalities of his Glass character Kevin Wendell Crumb. Apparently one of them has a very unusual inspiration.

"All of them had one driving characteristic," he explained. "That was key to getting into them physically. I based one of the twins on a young Saoirse Ronan!"

Okey dokey, James!

Glass opens in cinemas on January 18.

The Graham Norton Show airs at 10.35pm on BBC One, and will continue next week with Laura Linney, Timothée Chalamet and Glass inspiration Saoirse Ronan!
