About the EQUALS in Tech Awards

Every year, we give awards to people who are helping girls and women get equal access, skills, and opportunities as entrepreneurs and in the tech industry.

Got a plan to use social media to help women farmers in Kenya predict the weather? Figuring out how to get mobile phones to Native Canadian teen girls in rural towns? Working on reducing the representation and pay gap for women in Silicon Valley? Preventing AI algorithms from perpetuating gender bias?

The EQUALS in Tech Awards is an exceptional ceremony that celebrates women and girls across the globe to embrace the power of information and communication technologies (ICTs). Join us and hear more about innovative initiatives on 22 September 2018 in New York City as we celebrate the fifth annual EQUALS in Tech Awards!

Winners get a paid trip to the awards ceremony, but that’s not all. They also get to meet like-minded entrepreneurs, activists, teachers, and leaders. And they join an Advisory Group that chooses future award winners.

Why should you attend the award ceremony?

  • If you’re an award winner, you’ll get the chance to meet people who support you and your work.

  • If you’re in the tech sector, you’ll see examples of new ideas and potential investments to elevate global entrepreneurship

  • If you’re part of an international organization, you’ll meet colleagues from around the world and have a chance to network

  • If you’re a government, learn more about how you can localize the best practices from the projects into your country

  • If you're academia, get inspiration to expand research into new areas.

The 22 finalists of the Awards have been revealed. Read more about them here, and reserve your tickets now to find out which inspiring initiatives will win.
