Businesses in Mount Pleasant Under Boil Water Advisory After Water Main Break

Businesses in Isabella County still under a boil water advisory after a water main break.
Around 8:30 Monday morning people in Mount Pleasant noticed water covering downtown streets.
Others say they saw the asphalt bulging from the pressure.
The water main break happened on the corner of East Broadway and North Franklin Street.
The Mount Pleasant Water Department says a bolt rotted away allowing the water main seal to shift and the gasket to come apart.
The city will perform two water sampling tests while nearby businesses are under a 48 hour boil water advisory.
To get a closer look at the water main the water had to be shut off which was an inconvenience for a downtown hair salon.
“We’re kind of a water business.
So we kind of need water but a lot of people don’t mind shampooing their own hair and coming in and having you do it so that’s all but we can’t take color off or do any of that stuff so that’s pretty important,” said Headliners hairdresser, Cindi Verway.
The water main is now fixed and the roads are open.
