The Ethnocultural Family Violence Committee is excited to announce that they will be hosting Dr. Sujata Warrier on September 24 & September 26.

Dr. Warrier is the director of training and technical assistance at the Battered Women's Justice Project. Previously she was the director of the community response policy and training of the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence.

The trainings will explore the various socio-cultural elements that produce different experiences not only for ethno-cultural families seeking sanctuary through family violence programs but also for professionals connected to the issue.

The trainings will examine 1) ways in which professionals work with those seeking assistance, 2) prevention and intervention strategies that are able to address cultural considerations to family violence without undermining victim rights or justice and 3) work with professionals to strengthen overall responses to family violence.
