BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC (WECT) - Boiling Spring Lakes police say a man who was originally suspected in a stabbing Wednesday morning will not be charged in the case.

BSL Police Chief Brad Shirley said Thursday morning that David Leroy Moore II turned himself into police and was interviewed by investigators.

"During the interview, new information was learned that was not previously available or disclosed to investigators during the initial investigation and witness interviews," Shirley said in a news release. "Specifically, investigators have identified another male subject who was at the residence with the victim and witnesses during the time of the assault. After consulting with the District Attorney's Office about the newly discovered information, it was decided to NOT charge David Leroy Moore II with the crimes outlined in the original warrants. These warrants have been recalled and Mr. Moore is not facing any charges pertaining to the assault or the stabbing."

Moore was served with an outstanding warrant that is unrelated to the stabbing investigation.

Shirley said that investigators are evaluating the information from the original interviews and will be conduction addition interviews with witnesses based on newly discovered information.

Officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Crabapple Road just before 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. A female victim who had been stabbed was located at the scene and taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with non life-threatening injuries.

A second male victim suffered what is believed to be a fractured nose after being kicked in the face.

Shirley said the assault took place 20 to 30 minutes before officers were notified.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the police department at 910-363-0011.
