The Crusaders were not able to put a scoring drive together against the Blue Streaks and weren’t able to hold them on defense. John Carroll put up 14 points in both the first and second quarters and after halftime racked up 31 points in both the third and fourth quarters.

“Frustrating for our guys, frustrating for coaches, and fans, and supporters.”

“It was obviously disappointing,” Head Coach Chad Rogosheske said. “Frustrating for our guys, frustrating for coaches, and fans, and supporters.”

No team ever wants to lose and especially not a shut-out by that much at their homecoming game. When the players choose to play a game they love and the results don’t come out well, it is devastating for the players.

“We knew they were good,” Rogosheske said. “We shouldn’t have been surprised. I guess, by the fact that they were, you know, a good physical team with a strong defense, a good defensive line, and a good run game.”

The unexpected mistakes are critical and detrimental to the team. Currently 0-5 this season and 0-4 in conference games, the team wants to work their hardest to get a win each week, but hasn’t executed well.

According to coach Rogo, the players also struggle with the losses. Trying to juggle schoolwork and practice and free-time is difficult for the players. Dealing with people mocking them or talking about them on social media or around campus has an impact on the team and their confidence.

Coming out of the loss, the team is focusing on fundamentals and core techniques. The team just had trouble executing on all three phases of the game.

The team goes on the road in a tough match-up against the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio, Saturday Oct. 19.
