These "One Room Challenge" Guest Participant Transformations Really Wowed Us

Hey designers, can you make a pit stop at our house next time?

The fall season of One Room Challenge, hosted by Linda from Calling it Home, wrapped up just before Thanksgiving with the 20 official participants showing off their gorgeous new spaces! (If you haven't been following along, catch up by scrolling through all things #oneroomchallenge on Instagram or go here for the finished looks.)

But once the main challengers debuted their new digs, it was time for guest participants to share their efforts too. Yes, the room makeover madness doesn't just end with those select few. Twice a year, dozens of other home bloggers and designers take on redoing an entire room of their choice — in a month and a half, eep! — alongside the official challengers.

It's always exciting to see the creative results from this guest crew — how people tap the trends, who falls back to classic styles, all the textiles and color — and this year's guest group (there were 200+ total!) didn't disappoint. We were honored to be asked to pick two guest participants to join next spring's challenge. To decide, we asked House Beautiful editor in chief, Sophie Donelson, to comb through all the amazing transformations. Below are 10 rooms that really stood out to her and what she loved.

As for those two guest participants going on to next spring's official round? A huge congrats to Natasha Habermann and The Gold Hive, who will be joining season 12!

The Gold Hive took on redoing an already lovely office and really went for it with a personal touch. "Forget the hand-painted mural – which is amazing! – I'm impressed by the attention to detail, from felt drawer-liners to creative cord management," Sophie says.

Kris from Driven by Decor gave new life to an otherwise empty — and lifeless— space by mixing bold florals, geometric nuances, and bright color. "The daybed is such a smart purchase. I'm a big fan of the turned-wood profile and the Vera Bradley linens she dressed it with."

We're suckers for beautiful walls. Vestige Home used a cool color palette and watercolor feature wall to give this living space a lot of oomph."Point proven, that everything looks better against a rich color. I love that you get the dreamy-breezy vibe from one side and a brooding mood from the other."
