/FOLLOW UP: STADLER OUT AT AUDI
Volkswagen announced, this afternoon, that Rupert Stadler has left the company with immediate effect. He had stepped down temporarily after being taken into custody, in June. DAIMLER GO SWEEDISH
For the first time in it’s history, Daimler appoint a non-German as CEO. Dieter Zetsche will step down next year, to be succeeded by Ola Kaellenius. He will also be the first CEO without a mechanical engineering background. To read more click the BBC News article here.
FORD REFUNDING ECOBOOST ENGINE FAILURES
According to reports, the 1.0-litre and 1.6-litre Ecoboost engines can develop issues that cause failure and even catch fire. Ford will refund those effected by sudden failures. To read more click the Autocar article here.
LOTUS REVEAL PLANS FOR REDEVELOPMENT AT HQ
As part of their 70th birthday announcements, Lotus has stated that the Hethel HQ will undergo a multi-million-pound renovation, including additions such as a new customer experience centre, heritage centre and museum. To read more click the Autocar article here.
WLTP CAUSING CHAOS
With the changes in emission rules, thanks to WLTP, some manufacturers are removing some of their models. For example VW, Mercedes and Porsche are cutting plug-in hybrids. Mitsubishi however, have overhauled their Outlander PHEV so it falls below the 50g/km of CO2 emissions. PETER MERTENS LEAVES AUDI
Audi’s technical development boss, Peter Mertens, is leaving the company for reasons of ill health. Hans-Joachim Rothenpieler will replace him in November, after joining from Volkswagen. To read more click the Autocar article here.
FUTURE EU CO2 TARGETS
The suggested future targets for CO2 emissions, within the EU, has caused widespread consternation from car manufacturers. The European Automobile Manufacturers Association has released a statement explaining how the vote on the targets was totally unrealistic. To read more click the press release here.

OGIER RETURNS TO CITROËN
