Alberto Marocchino’s Post

***--- Clarity or Emotional Engagement?? ---*** I believe that #dataviz is a Swiss army tool of a today #BigData #Analytics #ML #AI guy, you cannot go far without some capability to 'display' your results in simple and intuitive pictures (that may include graphics of course). I am citing this wonderful article since it shows the eternal, still for the good cause, conflict between 'clarity' versus 'emotional engagement'. What do we consider a good #datavizualization (or info graphic)? Is it the one that clearly display the true nature of facts, with that pragmatic view that only mathematics can give us. Or, in a word where business has a central role, a good dataviz is the one that convince a CEO that our viewpoint is correct? How much graphics can be manipulated or they can manipulate our impression? https://bit.ly/2G2OJu9 This is a brief, not too technical reading that tries to tackle the problem with some practical example. I should also mention the book by @albertocairo 'How Charts Lie'.
