Les Seskin of Boca Raton recently received an honorary fellowship from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology during a special awards ceremony in recognition of his tireless support to the institution.

Seskin has devoted his time, energy and funds to helping students in various aspects of university life. In nominating Seskin for an honorary degree, the Technion citation read: “In admiration for your inspiring achievements in your career, in your community and in your philanthropy; with gratitude for your exemplary support of the Technion and your commitment to Israel’s welfare.”

Seskin applauds the Technion for services that contribute to what he feels is a well-rounded and motivated graduate, such as student tutoring, counseling and modern on-campus dorms.

“I have no doubt that my path would have been far smoother had it included even some of the amazing programs, facilities, and personnel that exist at the Technion,” he said at the awards ceremony, speaking on behalf of all the Fellowship honorees. “I take great joy and satisfaction in knowing that my support and work for the Technion will benefit great minds of future generations.”

Seskin earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from New York University. He is the immediate past president of the American Technion Society for the South Palm Beach area and is a member of the Technion Board of Governors, the ATS National Board of Directors and the local ATS board in Philadelphia, where he has a second home. In 2008, he and his wife, Eileen, became Technion Guardians (signifying the highest level of support to the university) when they established the Les & Eileen Seskin Virtual Reality and Controlled Construction Laboratory in the Civil and Environment Engineering Faculty. The Seskins have also supported graduate student housing, counseling programs and funds for reservists who have lost academic time while serving in the Israel Defense Forces .
