TOKYO -- Yamato Holdings has overcharged corporate clients by roughly 1.7 billion yen ($15.3 million) in total for moving services offered through a subsidiary, the logistics provider said on Tuesday.

The excessive fees cover around 48,000 contracts signed since May 2016, or nearly 40% of the total, and affect 2,640 clients, or 80%. Yamato could not find earlier data in its internal investigation, which was prompted by a whistleblower.
