Did you notice that this post took longer than expected to load? Are you reading this on your phone because the Internet on your laptop or desktop doesn’t work well? Here are a few things you can do to get back up to speed.

If It’s Just Your Computer

Ensure You’re on the Correct Wi-Fi Network

If you have a laptop, you may not be connected to your typical Wi-Fi network. Double-check your settings to ensure that you have logged in correctly and that you’re connected to the correct network.

Check Your Network Settings

This step will depend on what type of computer you have, so you’ll need to check with your operating system on how to access this. You’ll be able to run a test to troubleshoot your connectivity issues. Click these links for specific instructions:

Mac

Windows

Clear Your Cache

If you visit a website frequently, there’s a chance it may be saving past data, which can sometimes lead to page load issues. For most Internet browsers, it’s as simple as going to your browser settings to clear your cache.

If It’s Affecting Your Entire Network

Reset Your Router

Whenever you’re having issues with your Internet, this can be the first step you take.  Simply unplug your router for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in. If you notice that this doesn’t resolve your issue, read below.

Look at the Lights on the Modem

Ensure that all of the lights are on. If all of the lights are out, it means that your modem was accidentally unplugged. If one or two lights are off, unplug and replug each cable to ensure the connection is tight.

Call Your Internet Service Provider

If you’ve done all of the steps above and still can’t connect, it’s best to call your Internet service provider. This will prevent further disruptions and a technician can further investigate your issue.
