The Body Shop Superfood Mask Series Rice Ginseng Japanese Matcha Himalayan Charcoal Ethopian Honey British Rose Amazonian Acai

I'm a face mask addict, it doesn't matter if it's a sheet mask, sleeping mask or washable mask - if it's interesting mask I'll try it! I've tried The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask but today I'll focus on the entire The Body Shop Superfood Mask series. In this post, we will visit Japan and look deeply into the tea and beauty rituals in Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask, next stop -  India where we are going to focus on Ayurvedic Traditions in Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask. From India, I'll take you to Ethiopia, where we are going to check one of the latest trends - marula oil in Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask. We can't forget about visiting Europe, this time let's take some time for a tea and visit rose gardens with British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask. To make it more exciting we will go wild! Let's visit Amazonia and try acai berry in Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask. We will also go back to China to see if there's any difference in ginseng and rice after such a long time. So are you going on such exciting trip with me and The Body Shop? Fasten your seatbelts and let's go!

I've never seen more exciting mask series than this one but let's go to the start. What do the superfoods term mean? I'm sure you've seen this term all around the internet but I've got a sad information for you - superfoods aren't really that super. It's just a marketing term, but in fact, every natural ingredient - green tea, rose, acai berry, charcoal, etc has something super in itself. The Body Shop has decided to go back to roots and focus on natural inspirations to show us 6 masks - in some countries you can still find only 5 of the masks from this series, I'm not sure how it works but I still hope that you'll be able to find an ideal mask for you.

The Body Shop Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask

The Body Shop Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask

Water, Kaolin, Propanediol, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Parfum/Fragrance, Caprylyl Glycol, Polysorbate 60, Sodium Polyacrylate, Prunus Armeniaca Seed Powder/Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Seed Powder, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Tocopherol, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Taraxacum Officinale Rhizome/Root Extract/Taraxacum Officinale (Dandelion) Rhizome/Root Extract, Menthol, Sodium Hydroxide, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Limonene, Citric Acid, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Caramel, CI 19140/Yellow 5, CI 42090/Blue 1

The first stop on our map is in Japan with a small hint of Mexico since Aloe Vera used in this vegan mask is from Mexico. It's a purifying creamy mask recommended for people living in heavily polluted cities. It is also told that the main star in this formula is Matcha Green Tea. In fact, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract is quite low in the formulation but instead, we've got Kaolin and Luffa Cylindrica Fruit quite high, Luffa, as you can remember from the previous post about this series, is a delicate peeling. Indeed, this should be a purifying product but it also contains ingredients which are useless like Menthol or Citric Acid that makes it's targetted only to people with oily & non-sensitive skin types. Lots of my friends have enjoyed this mask but for me, it's a body mask which I can enjoy, the scent is not really like a green tea but more like grapes and my skin is literally burning after every use even if only 30 minutes later after I wash my skin it gets back to normal state still it's not a product which I would say it's worth its price and I recommend it. It's a matcha mask but I can see here less tea than in a cheap matcha chocolate.

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask

Water, Kaolin, Moroccan Lava Clay, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Alcohol Denat., Camellia Sinensis Leaf, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Pumice, Argania Spinosa Shell Powder, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Parfum/Fragrance, Charcoal Powder, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Limonene, Linalool, Methylpropanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Menthol, Disodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil/Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Citric Acid, Menthoxypropanediol, Citral, Geraniol, Coumarin, Caramel

Here it comes! The messiest of them all! I don't call it that way without a reason, it really makes a mess in my bathroom but what do we expect from mixing Kaolin, Morrocan Lava Clay and Charcoal Powder. The formula is like a creamy/clay mask with big bits of something black that should look like charcoal I guess. There's no way your bathroom won't change its colour from white to black or at least grey. It's another vegan and purifying mask from Superfoods collection but this one is bit milder even if it contains... Alcohol Denat and nope, it's not low in the formulation. If you add Menthol, Tea Tree Leaf Oil, Eucalyptus Oil and Citric Acid it can burn as hell and it burn my skin but it's not as unpleasing as Matcha one. But this combination can be beneficial for acne-prone skin. For me, it's just another body mask or mask for an oily & non-sensitive skin. It's not worth its price + additional minus in mess made by the mask is a big no for me.

The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask

The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask

Water, Mel/Honey/Miel, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Propanediol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Polysorbate 20, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-150 Distearate, Phenoxyethanol, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Benzyl Alcohol, Parfum/Fragrance, Sodium Hydroxide, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Sesamum, Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Disodium EDTA, Linalool, Caramel

Oh, honey! This is definitely the most interesting mask for you since photos of it on my Instagram were quite famous! It does remind the honey a little bit but is it sweet as honey? A vegetarian mask - what do you expect, a vegan honey mask? That sounds like a good joke - with honey on a 2nd place and Marula Oil hid under the name Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil way, way lower. The producer didn't use any artificial scents to make it sweet as sugar but instead, we've got gel mask with some blank scent and comedogenic ingredients such as PEG-150 Distearate or Sesame Seed Oil, at first I liked this mask but it feels like a never-ending jar with no excitement and sometimes comedogenic reactions. In comparison to other honey masks from different brands, it's a big unknown. At least this mask is not that harsh and for normal or dry skin it can be really nourishing.

The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask

Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-32, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Alcohol Denat., Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Rosa Gallica Flower Powder, Parfum, Sodium Hydroxide, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Methylpropanediol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder, Disodium EDTA, Rose Extract, Benzyl Salicylate, Menthoxypropanediol, Limonene, Citronellol, Geraniol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, CI 14700

We all got some rest after the Royal Wedding, I guess no one here still has a hangover! Roses might remind TBS team of Britain but for me, roses remind of Belarus during Eurovision (Anno Domini) 2018 (yes, I'm still not over Eurovision like do anyone expect me to be over it?) or at least Rose Garden where I spent all Latin lessons and any other lessons during my studies. This Vegan mask reminds me a bit of some cheap jam with rose petals - I didn't taste it but I guess it doesn't taste like a homemade rose jam. But that's okay. Still, I feel like this mask is a bit sticky. It's another mask with Alcohol Denat and Citric Acid but it's not as harsh as other ones, one thing that worries me the most is Fragrance in such high place - you can feel it, I've got days in which I can't use this mask. Rose ingredients aren't also high on the list but the texture looks so pretty with petals in it. This mask can really make your skin brighter, dewy and less dull but it's still no number one from the entire series.

The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask

The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask

Water, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Argania Spinosa Shell Powder, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit, Sodium Polyacrylate, Phenoxyethanol, Euterpe Oleracea Pulp Powder, Parfum/Fragrance, Carbomer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caprylyl Glycol, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Limonene, Bertholletia Excelsa Seed Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Orbignya Oleifera Seed Oil, Methylpropanediol, Disodium EDTA, Propylene Glycol, Paullinia Cupana Seed Extract, Citronellol, Geraniol, Citric Acid, Caramel, CI 17200/Red 33

I've never wanted to see Amazonia but at least I can feel it on my own skin according to The Body Shop. This mask is another jam but more spiky one since it contains our favourite peeling Luffa Cylindrica Fruit this time accompanied with Argania Spinosa Shell Powder and it feels really nice on the skin, the colour of this mask makes me feel a little bit like Countess Elizabeth Báthory image in pop culture (the best way to understand this part is by check some history books and find why she's usually portrayed as a women that were bathing in blood), especially that after removing the mask from your face it'll stay red for a bit. It burns but somehow I enjoy this mask, it smells like fruits and it's effective. It's less harsh than Matcha and Himalayan masks. It's another vegan mask but where we can find Acai berry in it? Acai is hidden under the name Euterpe Oleracea Pulp Powder. I feel like it's the cleanest mask from the entire series if we do not include Fragrance ingredients but it contains Citric Acid and maybe that's why it feels like it burns my skin. I think that this mask is second after Ginseng & Rice.

Water, Glycerin, Luffa Cylindrica Fruit, Kaolin, Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil/Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Cetyl Alcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, PEG-100 Stearate, Alcohol Denat., Decyl Glucoside, Cera Alba/Beeswax/Cire d’abeille, Perlite, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Parfum/Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Salicylic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Limonene, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Myristyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Menthol, Panax Ginseng Root Extract/Panax Ginseng (Ginseng) Root Extract, Disodium EDTA, Citral, Citronellol, Linalool, Menthoxypropanediol, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Eugenol, Dextrin, Oryza Sativa Extract/Oryza Sativa (Rice) Extract, CI 77891/Titanium Dioxide

I've made a special post about The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask before but I wanted to update you, I've started a second packaging already but if you wonder did my opinion about this mask has changed I can tell you - no, it doesn't. It's still my The Body Shop number one product even if in wash-off mask ranking RE:P Bio Fresh Mask With Real Calming Herbs is a number one and this one even if it contains my favourite ingredients such as ginseng and rice it won't beat the vegan and more delicate RE:P.

The Body Shop Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask

Which mask is worth a try?

In my opinion, The Body Shop Chinese Ginseng & Rice Clarifying Polishing Mask is the first mask I've tried and it's the best one, next is The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask. The rest of the masks - it depends on you, I think that Himalayan Mask and Matcha Mask can be good for oily & non-sensitive skin types, Honey Mask will work nicely on a dry skin and Rose Mask is a mask which is the least exciting one since at this price you can find better masks based on Rose. We can't deny that ingredients aren't the best and £17, $28 or €20 for 75ml is too high even if it's in a glass container and The Body Shop has some good deals like 2+1 or -40% off.  According to TBS, you can use these masks as a multimasking products, I didn't try it but that can work too.

Our journey is coming to the end. For me, it's not the end with these masks since I need to use them all first before I can get some new ones. I hope you've enjoyed this post, there's going to be a similar one with Korean masks soon, let me know if you would like some posts like that with sheet masks series and which mask from The Body Shop is your favourite.
