About Christine Hsieh , MD

Dr. Hsieh approaches the diagnosis and management of patients with colorectal diseases from a patient-centered point of view. A former journalist, Dr. Hsieh seeks to understand patients and their experiences in context, combining sensitivity and technical mastery to deliver effective, efficient care.

Dr. Hsieh earned her medical degree in New York City at Columbia University’s College of Physicians & Surgeons. She completed general surgery residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center before moving to Los Angeles to pursue fellowship training in colorectal surgery at USC.

Her clinical interests include minimally invasive surgical techniques and their application to the treatment of colon and rectal cancers, diverticular disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. She has a particular interest in women’s health, especially pertaining to anorectal disease, pelvic floor disorders, and functional concerns. Her research interests include surgical education, medical curriculum development, and Narrative Medicine theory and practice.

Dr. Hsieh was named one of the Top Doctors of 2021 by Los Angeles Magazine.

I believe that I give the best care when I can get to know my patients as individuals. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing patients in the postoperative clinic, wearing their street clothes and looking like any person running an errand. I'm always so impressed by the spirit of my patients.
