Microsoft Rolls Out Windows 10 RS5 Insider Preview Build 17730

Microsoft is rolling out Build 17730 to Insiders in the Fast ring and today the “Your Phone” app is officially live for testing.

Microsoft today is rolling out Windows 10 Redstone 5 preview build 17730 to Insiders in the Fast ring. This comes on the heels of preview build 17728 which was released earlier this week and included the new Your Phone app – although not quite usable. There are no major new features like that in this build, but it does include plenty of fixes and improvements. Here is a look at what you can expect.

Windows 10 Redstone 5 Preview Build 17730

Microsoft introduced the Your Phone app in its build three days ago, but today the company is officially announcing it is available for testing. “Android phone users, you can finally stop emailing yourself photos. Drag and drop that photo from your phone onto your PC. Copy, edit, or ink on that photo, right from your PC. With Your Phone app, live today for Windows Insiders, you get instant access to your Android’s most recent photos on your PC,” Microsoft execs Dona Sarkar and Brandon LeBlanc write. Currently, it’s most useful for Android users and iPhone owners will be able to link their phone, but only transfer links to a webpage from your phone to PC.

In addition to Your Phone app being live, here is a look at other changes and improvements that are included in today’s build:

  • We have fixed the issue impacting WDAG, Remote Desktop and Hyper-V. Remote Desktop Client (mstsc.exe) users should no longer see an error dialog complaining about low virtual memory when a connection is being established. And users can use enhanced sessions in Virtual Machine Connection (vmconnect.exe) again.
  • Thank you everyone who has given us feedback on the “Block Suspicious Behaviors” feature that was recently added to Windows Security. For the time being we’re removing it from the build while we work on addressing some of the things you shared with us.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in the volume slider in certain apps performing poorly with touch in recent flights.
  • We fixed an issue resulting in certain apps, like the Twitter app, not rendering content when navigating after a while.
  • We fixed an issue where expanding the Driver Updates dropdown in View Update History in Settings didn’t list anything (even when there were items to list) in recent builds.

As is the case with all preview builds, there are also known issues for users and developers alike. In fact, there is a pretty long list this time and you should make sure to read Microsoft’s full post for full details and workarounds.
