David Beckham's Miami MLS team's name, crest potentially revealed by trademark filings

Back in January, Major League Soccer confirmed David Beckham's Miami franchise as the league's next expansion outfit. Eight months later, the team has a name, colors, crest and start date, if logos filed with the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office are anything to go by.

Welcome to MLS, Internacional Club de Futbol Miami -- or Inter Miami.

The recent filings were submitted by MIPH, LLC, the same company that filed the trademark for "Miami Freedom," the proposed name for the site that would be home to the club's new, 28,000-seat stadium, as well as a 58-acre park, public soccer fields, and hotel and retail space.

The Water Tower Online was the first outlet to report on the trademark filings.

All of the logos found prominently feature black, pink and white. While the lack of teal will leave those fans hopeful of "Miami Vice"-inspired kits slightly disappointed, the prominence of pink should soften that blow.

When the franchise was announced at the start of 2018, both Beckham and MLS commissioner Don Garber stated that the hope was for the club to begin play in 2020. The "MMXX" -- 2020 in Roman numerals -- in the crest lends credence to that timeline being right as well.

Atletico Miami was another name Beckham's group was reportedly considering, but these filings suggest that Inter Miami will be the name for the South Florida club.

If this truly is the name and crest for Beckham's Miami team, the club's look would be a very fresh addition to MLS.
