I went on Jenny Garrett's retreat last Saturday and I can honestly say that it was the most powerful personal development event I have ever participated in. It was empowering and enlightening. I came away exhausted from the brain power I put into it! What I would say to anyone thinking of going on such a retreat, is that you get out of it what you put in. There's no point going unless you're prepared to do the work after. I'm still processing my learning and putting my plans into action. It's hard work and requires daily reflection. For me, it works best if you state and share your intentions with people you trust and people who genuinely care about you. In the same week, I had a fascinating conversation with Caron Bradshaw. We were discussing helpful books and she recommended 'Radio Heaven' by Dr Sam Collins. I'm now half way through and key messages from Radio Heaven are helping me implement my plans. All of the above will inform the coaching and mentoring I deliver at work. Investing in your own development is the gift you give to yourself and the gift that keeps on giving because you can share your learning and support others with theirs. #retreats #personalitydevelopment #Happenista #goals #enlightenment #empowering #learning #coaching

The dreaded “returning to work with flexibility “ chat. I had the chat yesterday. I came prepared, with stats on how I can work less hours, work around my childcare duties and still produce results. My incredible bosses James Colclough and Ashley Staines shut me down, saying this isn’t a chat about can you do it. We know you can. We just want to make sure you will be ok mentally and how can we support you. They recognised that having other responsibilities and being a mother isn’t a disadvantage, they believed in me. I see a lot of posts on here about flexible working and the one thing that comes up is trust. As long as you trust and believe in your people and have good communication then there’s no need for a flexible working policy. I am forever grateful to be working for good people and I can’t wait to be back!

On #WorldStrayAnimalDay let's take time to show our appreciation to #volunteers who across the globe who help manage the cat population in so many ways - from trap, neuter, vaccinate and release to taking in strays at small #volunteer led rescue centres and organising fostering and rehoming. Many feline welfare programmes are volunteer led and the emotional burden can be heavy. With grateful thanks to those donating their time and talents. We value YOU. Also thanks to organisations that support volunteering and volunteer led endeavours financially and/or by sharing expertise. There's such collaboration across this sector. 💙
