More than 100 former OSU students come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct by team doctor

COLUMBUS, OH (WOIO) - More than 100 former students from Ohio State have now come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct by a team doctor.

Cleveland 19 just learned the attorney representing the victims is from here in Cleveland.

More than 200 former students and staff members have now been interviewed by independent investigators.

They are looking into allegations of sexual misconduct at Ohio State by Dr. Richard Strauss from 1979 to 1997.

Strauss treated student athletes as a team doctor in 14 different sports.

He died by suicide in 2005.

Stephen Snyder-Hill reported sexual misconduct to the university in 1995.

He just got those records from Ohio State.

Stephen went to see Dr. Strauss for a lump on his chest.

He says the doctor did a full body exam, including testicular and anal exams.

And he asked him uncomfortable questions.

"He said that he enjoys to work with AIDS patients, back then I think that that was probably a way to identify that you work with gay people and he plain out asked if I was gay, I'm feeling really uncomfortable, I don't know where this line of questioning is going," Snyder-Hill said.

Numerous student athletes said they complained of sexual abuse by Strauss back in the 70s.

But Ohio State didn't do anything.

They accuse the university of covering it up and letting him prey on students for decades.

Attorneys say Strauss even photographed some of his victims during exams, according to a 26 page complaint.

Attorneys for the alleged victims are demanding class action status and a jury trial.

Daniel Richard Karon of Karon LLC in Cleveland is representing the victims in the claim.

His office is in the Warehouse District.

We found Daniel Karon actually got his law degree at Ohio State's Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 1991, during the time that Dr. Strauss worked there.

Congressman Jim Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State at the time and several students say he ignored the allegations.

Jordan has repeatedly denied he knew anything.

Meanwhile Ohio State says they're committed to uncovering the truth.
